“Future needs heritage”: This phrase, popular among football traditionalists, also applies to the railway.

Yesterday we attended the NRW #rail-siding conference hosted by our client Association of German Transport Companies (VDV). The VDV NRW and its partners from business and municipalities invited guests to the Railway Museum Bochum-Dahlhausen. According to NRW Transport Minister Oliver Krischer, the conference is “a very important signal in these times to put rail sidings on the agenda.” Topics include what rail freight transport can achieve, how the public sector can support rail siding development, and where challenges in construction still remain — discussions continuing into the afternoon today.
