Against the complaining:
Futurist presents five theses on mobility

18.03.2026 #ADHOCunterwegs

Tristan Horx brought five theses on the “mobility of the future” with him:

  • Children should be introduced to public transport during their youth, before they even obtain a driving license, so they develop a long-term connection to public transport. Public transport is also a cultural practice, not just a way of getting from A to B.
  • Climate debates will disappear. Facts speak for themselves. “Electric drives are currently a wonderful thing. There may also be another technology after that.” The important thing now is to slightly reduce the demand for absolute perfection and just get started, otherwise perfection quickly becomes the enemy of the good.
  • Electric drives are not only suitable for passenger cars but also, for example, for ships and trucks.
  • Whether we like the driving experience or not: autonomous driving will come, especially in public transport.
  • “We want, we can, and we are allowed to do more,” said Tristan Horx. Mobility will increase, along with the need to travel. This is not something that should be “beaten out of people.”

Tristan Horx’s conclusion: “We will manage the transition; we will face change with the elements of innovation, whether technological, cultural, or sociological. Sometimes it also requires changes in behavior. We have succeeded repeatedly, and in hindsight, this will become very clear.”
